So I have to tell you about the 14th of July. It's France's national holiday. Our 4th of July. You celebrate independance, we celebrate revolution. Bastille Day. The Bastille was an old prison in Paris, where the people came to take weapons in 1789 and then killed the king an all that, wrote "La Déclaration des Droits de l'Homme et du citoyen" (The declaration of the rights of man and of the citizen), and then France became a democracy (Yes, I sumarized... The entire story has way to many details...)
But anyways, that's why we party on the 14th. And what do we do?
In Paris, you have a big military parade, big concerts, big fireworks... In the small towns next to my very small village, well, they do what they can...
And they can do this:
They follow the marching band in the streets at night, carrying colored Chinese lantern, which here is not called Chinese lantern by the way, but "lampions". This is the parade:

And this is a lampion, blurry I know, but those kids can't seem to stand still! This guy was apparently very happy to have a real candle in this and be able to play around without having his mother screaming "DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!".

I love that all generations get together and just listen to the crapy and old fashion playlist of the marching band. But this is 14th of July's spirit. It wouldn't be the same without those old tunes. You know, those that when they start, everyone goes "Oh, noooooooo, COME ON!", but they know all the lyrics and sing along...

Well, those three are just like me, they never fought a war, which means they are too young to know the song, and they didn't assist to that many 14th of July, so they didn't have time to learn the lyrics. But they had a good time anyway...
After than, everybody on the dance floor! Look at that, isn't it cute? I know it's dark, but the marching band is playing!

Bill Haley, let's Rock'Roll baby!

And beautifull fireworks to end the night, which means a bad stiff neck after:
